Congratulations! I agree, pretty hen & pretty egg. What breed is she? It was going to ask what you plan to do with the egg, but you already answered that. Nice idea!

Her mom is a Brown Leghorn and her dad is a Crested Cream Legbar. We hatched eggs from a friends flock back in May. We have two with that same mix. They both have the crest and took on more of a legbar look, and apparently Ginger lays light green/blue eggs .

Just a quick Ginger update. Per this post, last Tuesday she laid her first egg. She skipped Wednesday, but has laid an egg every single day since, between 11-11:30am. The cutest little blue/green eggs. She does it in the same nesting box, at the same time. The three other girls haven't started laying yet. One of the girls keeps checking out Gingers box, and every time she does Ginger gets a little upset. I hope she chooses a different box when her time comes, because it seems that Ginger has claimed it.
