Hi all, my flock of five just turned 20 weeks. The buff orp who seems to be in charge, also seems to have lost some feathers at the back of her neck. I havent witnessed any fighting (though all the ladies do go head to head with each other), and none of the others are missing any feathers. Is this normal or do I need to be concerned? Could it be the beginning of a molt, or happening with the change in weather? Sorry, I didn’t get any pictures.... Appreciate any help!

Maybe get some pictures when you can, there are a few reasons for feather loss. Have you checked for mites/parasites?

Welcome To BYC

I agree, photos would be helpful.
Thanks!

Thank you, I will try! No mites. There are ants that keep getting into the coop and so it feels like a constant cleaning job. Have tried Saturday Lime but open to any other suggestions.
