$200.00+ for hatching eggs?!

Illia -- They are absolutely spectacular. I'd say you got your money's worth with those two, especially if you are breeding that line. $100 for a prime roo that will improve your bloodline isn't unacceptable, unless we're talking about the most common breeds.

But seriously, there's a difference between good quality Silver Laced Brahmas (they're expensive because they're the first of that color for the breed, which btw Brahmas in the US only come in THREE colors) and the Sussex first shown. . . Those sussex are, to me, a waste. A silve pencilled hen and a columbian rock. . . That isn't even finished!! They're still in the works. . . . And being sold at a finished price.

Oh and, if anyone thinks anything at 200 per dozen is crazy. . . I spent 200 on a dozen before, and got TWO ROOSTERS out of it. Am I upset? No!!

And no,.. I don't really think anyone is crazy to spend their money on what they love.

It just startled me because I personally hadn't seen 6 eggs for that much before,.. but I guess if I had it to spend,..They ARE beautiful birds!

I was unfamiliar with that breed,... but I don't get out much I guess!

I myself am trying to work on a better Barnevelder with darker eggs and work towards a Silver laced Barnevelder,..I saw one from England once and can't stop thinking about it.
I will probably spend more than a lot of friends think I should!

I hope whoever wins those Silver Sussex gets a great hatch!

If it's a BYC member,. I hope they share!

Yes you are absolutely right! I actually thought about that as I wrote it and that's why I said it seems that way,... because in reality it looks like a lot of $ when I see it in one lump some,. but I know I have certainly spent that many, many times over and will again if the Lord lets me!

If I had the money for it,.. I would happily spend it on some rare eggs and get some for you too!

No, someone else won Gretchen's tester eggs. I'd love a little of Gretchen's genes in my flock, but I don't have such.
