Well, it is here at my place. Dusty, one of the Blue Orp ladies who just hatched chicks in March this year and she's been in the nestbox all day yesterday and has been in it all day today. She's going over the edge again.

So, she is my 6th broody this year, if you count both times for her.

Shadow's still with her 4 week old chick, Tux is in the coop sitting on air and is on Day 15 and I dont want to give her eggs. Glenda, is sitting on 5 eggs and went broody the exact same day that Tux did. Earlier this year, Nugget raised babies, too.

Yeah, no kidding! But, I really don't need anymore birds at the moment so I have to find homes for almost all the chicks when their moms are done with them. I fully expect a couple more hens to brood this year, though.

Eleven???! NOoooooooooo! Well, I don't have any of those darn Silkies, who brood at the drop of a hat, but my breeder birds and the ones I hatched here have been the broodies. Only one of my hatchery birds has ever gone broody. No, make that two, a Buff Orp and my banty Cochin.

I've had three broodies this year, and one took about a half a day break then decided to go broody again. The first hatched one successfully, but she hurt it so I took it away. The second and third had no success. I think it was due to all the rain and coldness, which is very unusual. We'll see in 3 weeks if the persistent one has any luck. I hope so, I want some Brahma chicks!

I can't get my buff ameraucanas off the nest! I finally culled about six of the non breeder birds because they have probably only laid 1-2 dozen eggs in the last year.

My breeder birds keep getting put in cages for a week or two go back in the coop and lay for a week and go broody again.

Too much orpington blood..........

OK guys, I am jealous here! LOL I only have one that will go broody. She likes to stay broody but she is a small game hen that can only hold so many eggs under her.....

Ya'll need to send those hens to me

Hi all

Cyn my Jasper from your brood is going to be a daddy. I have 1 BR girl also from your eggs broody and sitting on 7 eggs and two Orpingtons sitting on eggs, and Jasper is the daddy. I don't need anymore either but this is my first broody experience so I let them have their way. They are all due July 4th. Can't wait.

Karen
