2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Wildsky - that's a pretty block (with your beautiful Moda fabric

)! I hate when you miss a seam like that! It's SOOO frustrating. My seam ripper is my friend because I have managed to do stuff like that quite often.

Wahooo... this is great! I'm glad so many of you are giving this a try! I can't wait for February so I can see everyone's blocks! Can we make it a requirement that all the blocks get posted in this thread so that we can all admire them?

I think a tag that goes across the corner would look okay.
In fact, I dont care if mine would 'look right' or not. I want mine personalized. By everyone who does a block for me. If you want me to do yours I will, if not, I wont. It's not that big a deal, I dont think.

I had this same thought, but didn't know if anyone would want to do this.
I was thinkin gin the way of tose personalized sew-on tags with your name one it would be cool, but I would leave that up to the sender and let that be their choice.

But where would you put the tag, if its on the back you won't see it when you finish a quilt. If you put it on the front it may not look right,

thats true...maybe right at the very, very bottom of the block....like right at the edge almost?..

..

You could but what if you get the tag to close to the edge and the receiver then sews over part of it. That would be a bummer.

The only logical solution is to pin the tag to the fabric and let the receiver put the tag where they might feel it looks best.

Sounds good to me! Cause I was going to make a tag or get it on there somehow myself! hahaa
Or even cut blocks in the back, then do the name on the back of each block..that way the back is as original looking as the front.

Well, some people might have tags.. you can order them for sewed items from different places, I don't have any left, and they wouldn't have my BYC name anyway. If I get any tags from those who do send something seperate, I'll work them into the border of the finished quilt I think. If I decide on a way of making one myself, I'll send them along with the block... maybe with a To: and From: format with the name of the block pattern if it has one.... but, it's going to take sum thunking on I think.

Possibly using transfer paper from a computer? Ironing it makes it color fast I believe... we can consider that... but I think it's best to leave it up to individuals, cause that's extra work and extra money either or both of which may be a problem for some.

I like the idea of having a name tag for each block, that just makes the quilt more personal like Skand said.

Now you gonna make me go and look and embroidery machines! You ladies are such enablers!

Who has an embroidery machine?

A name can be embroidered onto the finished block without too much trouble I think.
