2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Make that three of us! I had the same thought!

Sorry Beth, but I think that sort of thing is contagious. I remember when my sister and three of my sister-in-laws where all pregnant at the same time, my brothers and my brother-in-law were always trying to hide out at my house. Being the dutiful, caring, loving brother/brother-in-law that I am, I always ratted them out!

No way was I going to deal with four women with raging hormones!

I found the quilt shop in town yesterday when I was in town to pick up the pup from the vet.

I was so excited I couldn't STAND IT - MILLIONS of fat quarters at $2.50 each, they had tons of Moda and others... It toook SO long for me to decide what I wanted and what I could actually AFFORD

I spent just under $70 on fat quarters and a few charm packs of Moda. I found the moda line called ECLECTIC is lovely, and also bought a charm pack of the CRAYON FOREST which is cute!

I washed it all and dried it last night - and the kids helped me fold them all back up - and now I can't decide what to do with them

I do agree that it seems to be a contagious thing! I think there were 6 babies born in my family (including cousins) in the last year! We've also had a bunch of friends having babies... so there are just babies everywhere!

Ok, I am excited.... I have a BUNCH of new fabric AND a new toy! DH drug me out and about yesterday afternoon even though I was sick. We stopped to get some fabric for Arabookworm's block and DH decided I needed one of these ! It's kind of funny because I had mentioned before that I wished that they made something like that. It seems like no matter how careful I am with my rotary cutter and ruler, I manage to let the ruler slide a bit or something and my cuts end up off a bit. I told him forever ago that I wanted something kind of like my paper cutter for cutting fabric and he spotted that rotary ruler! I seriously had never noticed one before! I have been using it and I LOVE it!

My fabric I ordered from Quilt in a Day showed up yesterday, too. So, I thought I would share all my pretty new fabric with everyone.
This is almost all of the fabric I got in the last 2 weeks (sitting on my ironing board that folds out of the wall... I love that thing and will miss it when we move).

Here's a little closer look-
This is from Fabric.com... I bought some different fabrics I thought I might like to use in our wedding quilt (I have some other fabric I bought somewhere else for it, too, but forgot to put it in the picture. You'll notice this is the only pile that I hadn't gotten ironed yet when I took the picture!

DH's grandma loves green, so I wanted to have some options when I start on her quilt.

I forgot to take a picture of the fabric I bought for Arabookworm's block. I guess you'll just see it when I get her block done!

Ok, back to the sewing machine!

I struggle sometimes with my rotary cutter as well, and my stupid cutting mat is lumpy and bumpy - I think from when we moved and it was packed up perhaps it got squished or something.

Wildsky----Great find at a great price!!!!

Chevy----Beautiful fabric and I am sure the baby will be to

I love the rotary cutter that I have and my daughters got me the mat for Christmas. Those things are just awesome.

Thanks!

We got this one at Walmart (MUCH cheaper than anywhere else once I looked online). It uses the same size and style blades as my rotary cutter - which is a bonus! If you have a chance to get one, I highly recommend it!

I went out yesterday for new blades for my rotory cutter, and had that in my HAND!!! But I dutifully put it back cause I thought it was excessive when I only needed blades for the cutter I already have... but.... it works well? *hand slowly creeps towards the car keys*

*sigh* well, it's snowing like crazy just now, so I should really wait. It looks really handy for strip quilting though...
