2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Have you ever had your jeans shrink and get to short ?

Just add some kind of border to them and it will give you a couple xtra inchs in length. I put a border that was an indian weave kind of stuff that was dark green, navy blue and a rust orange. They are my favorite jeans and I get alot of compliments.

So they either look good or some people are just being polite.

Ive seen those, I like them. But, I'm sewing deficiant. lol It was either learn to quilt, or learn to make clothes, think the quilt idea is easier. lol
For kids, like my 6 year old that wears kid size 8 pants, they grow up so freakin fast, I'd find some fringy kind of stuff and add to the bottom, just trim off the hem, add on. Or even add on to capri pants.

why would you leave the batting out? Is it too heavy? too thick?

I thought it seemed a little heavy with the batting in. But I also don't think just the denim would be very warm Guess I'll try a small one and see if it matters

Or use the top to make aprons or clothes pin bag.

Chicken women, I made a "quilt" long ago for DS out of old jeans (no batting in it; just top and lined) and used the back side tops of the jeans with the pockets set between pieced sections for a bed skirt. He, teenager at the time, loved having the pockets to stash things in.
