2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Oh no... I did it. I clicked on the link to all the pretty fabric!!!!! NOOOO.... I already have 3.5 totes full of fabric (I know I said I only had 2 before, but one was overflowing and I got new fabric since then, too)... DH says no more... but I WANT more!

Yikes... I just had a candle explode. Ok, well the candle didn't, but the glass jar it was in did! Scared the heck out of me. I was trying to burn up a couple of candles I had that are almost gone so I don't have to pack them. It's weird - it must have gotten too hot. The bottom completely broke out of it!

Well, I have to say we just had a neighbor come and plow out the foot or so of snow out of our driveway! (a long hilly driveway) How wonderful is THAT!!! I'm making some fresh bread for them now!! We were snowed in true, but had plenty of groceries and canned goods and a full freezer, so we were FINE but they didn't know that for sure, and just showed up to do it. They know my dad is 90 and thought it would be helpful!!!! Who could ask for better neighbors!?!?

I say we should organise a fat-quarter swap next! Not here!! But maybe on the regular sewing/quilting thread! I'm sending a little fabric on with my blocks, (not always even a whole fat-quarter) but only because I have some extra of a few things. I don't think anyone should feel pressured to do so!!! I'm just saying I can, but am NOT expecting any, so PLEASE don't think it!!! (man I hope this comes out right!!! I'm NOT trying to push anyone to it at ALL!)

Wow! THose are the bestest neighbors!! Not only fresh bread, but a few eggs too!!
A fabric swap sounds cool, just dont sign me up yet, lol I'm still playing with my fabric!! oooo speaking of, girls are taking naps. Time for me to play!!!

Check out some of these patterns.

There are some cute chicken ones. I am on a yahoo group that is doing a swap based on these patterns. The lady that owns the fatcat.com site is a member of that group. I have asked her permission to use the patterns for a swap on the The Quilted Rooster Yahoo group.

They get some of those anyway, but sometimes they insist on paying, we bicker about that all the time!

"Let me give you a couple bucks for those!"
"No no, it's fine, just take 'em."
"Oh please, just take it."
"No, no! Your money's no good!"
"Oh it's fine!! The eggs are so GOOD!! Let me pay SOMETHING!!!"
"No! Just take the eggs!"
"But you have to feed them, and it's SO worth it!!"
"No! Please just take the eggs!! It's FINE!! They're eggstra this week!"

I think it's become a sport, see who can win the eggs/money debate... we sort of trade off on letting the other win back and forth, but they're just taking this NO MATTER WHAT!!! I really can't afford paying someone to plow, and I plan ahead for being snowed in part of the time till I can shovel tire tracks out or call a friend for a ride.

lol Tell them if they insist, to go grab a handful of crackers, and pay the hens themselves for the generosity! Since those gals are the ones that put all the work into those yum-delicious eggs.
I love having those kind of bickering neighbors. They make it worth the time and energy it takes to be so neighborly.
