2014 breeding season begins, post your results

PS THE EGG THAT WAS FIXING TO HATCH ALSO FLOATED , so when i made the statement to float eggs to test if they were good i was wrong cause the almost ready to hatch egg floated also, gonna check some guinea eggs soon to see if they float at the halfway during incubation and will report back, may have to do a daily test in the future if the halfway egg does not float.
I think you're right... I have a bunch of duck in the bator right now that are very much alive and I bet they'll float. Warming up the water as I type, lol.

Aren't live eggs supposed to bob or wiggle from the chick moving around inside when they're float tested? I think I read that a few yrs back over on the Quail forum here...

Just curious, I don't dare float test my Pea eggs that I have cooking, (I'm not incubating anything else ATM.. shock shock, lol).

I didn't have them in long enough to see... These are eggs that I found in a nest yesterday and there is something very strange going on with them... I'll try to get some pictures since I'm no good at explaining this sort of thing.

Quote: I wouldn't have left them in there long enough to bob or wiggle either lol

I've always been too chicken to even try it with my Quail eggs (since they are so hard to candle, plus super fragile) and really I have no idea if the bob/wiggle thing applies to larger eggs or just the tiny Quail eggs. Does anybody else know?

Strange happenings with the duck eggs, hmmm...

Here is one of them. Note the strange shape of the air cell. It looks like it's 1/2 the egg. They normally are at more of an angle, this and the others are practically down the middle.

Whoa, lol. Never seen an air cell take up that much space in an egg before, even on abandoned Guinea eggs that sat out in the sun all triple digit summer long here, lol. Wonder how that may or may not effect the hatch... hopefully they just come popping right out of there all normal and healthy

I've pipped for the two that had internally pipped, so we'll see if they live. One of the other eggs looks like the yolk is stuck, I'll try to get a picture of that one, too. She made her nest in a really tight spot, so I don't think she could turn her eggs effectively.
