At the start of the season, we had a few peahens abandon their clutches. Wondering if they were dying off abandoning 1 or 2 at a time. And now I get a call from my friend ( I’m out of town) that we lost a 3 mo old chick (that mama peahen has 2 more). One other peahen showed up with one chick a month and a half and lost him. Both at the end of the heat wave in Los Angeles. Plenty of water and food. Any ideas. Anything we might of missed. Inbreeding an issue. It’s the same birds that show up every year except they relocated a very active male last year. Help?
