2014 breeding season begins, post your results

Thanks zazouse for the info , Now if I put the eggs in the incubator how would I know when they'll be ready to hatch , my peahen disapeared about a week ago ,she would only comes out once a day around 1:30 pm to eat and drink water thats when I followed her and found her sitting on the eggs I could only see 4 eggs yesterday ,do they lay more eggs while sitting on the other or is that gonna be it ? ( Sorry too many questions at once )

This chart is for duck eggs but it is along the same development timeline
i check my eggs at 23 days cause for whatever reason hardly any of my eggs wait till the 28th day to hatch, this year i have had to lockdown almost all my eggs on day 23 cause there is movement in the air cell and sure enough they will pip the next day, i am using broody hens this year, last year i started with hens but switched to incubation so i could learn more about hatching peas

Start your countdown at the time you know she did not return at night, hens will sit eggs for a few days sometimes before they committ and stay day and night, i been studying the habits of two of my hens, one is right by my baby brooder and the other is out in the woods near the new building we been working on.

We're waiting for you to tell us how to do it.

He can't tell us,

I can tell but you can't tell in that photo. You would have to see the other photo and probably I would need to point it out. Problem is that they are saying this is valuable info so I should keep it to "myself" and make money off of it. Same method works for all birds. I told you guys multiple times but they don't believe me so I just won't argue and I shall keep the secret to "myself."
because eventually he's going to make millions off his secret !

It just amazes me how much the eggs develop between day 24 and 28. It always looks like it is still a floating embryo on 24 then bam, it's a feathered bird.

My first two eggs of the year were a bust, one was a slow starter, I almost pitched it as it looked like it was clear after five days but finally took off. They both quit somewhere around three weeks, one almost went term. Those were in my HatchCraft in regular egg turners. My next batch are in the same bator and are due Sunday/Monday, I candled out 25%. Everything after that is in my new Sportsman and laying on their side.

Really? most of mine don't make it to day 25 before they hatch , strange how all ours hatch at different rates, same thing with my guineas they are always early, many times they start hatching in the turner.
