2014 breeding season begins, post your results

Thanks for the pics! You better hold on to that one! Looks like a very showy loud pied to me. It may not fit FBC's criteria exactly, but to me I'd say "loud pied" definitely. If it's a male, it's gonna be a eye catcher. Here are Dad and Mom.

Beautiful parents! I can't wait to see this one feathered out. Number six is hatched now! A BS/IB...

Well, ok... grandma! The one in the top of the picture is one you marked LP/SP.

The one on the left came from my Black Shoulder pen and looks to be from a Cameo hen.

The one on the right is from the Pied pen. The one zipping is from the IB pen and was stuck and shrink wrapped, it is out now and doing fine. The one in the upper right corner is stuck too, but it's all good now.

When I got up this morning I checked the incubator right away because of the storms last night will sometimes turn the turner off. To my surprise two chicks had hatched and yours was sopping wet and out too! I had them marked to hatch out Monday and today I was going to put them down in the hatching tray in the Sportsman, one beat me to it and the rest we put down there, luckily none got stuck in the turner. I didn't think there was enough room for them to hatch in the turning trays but there is, obviously.

The IB zipping in the pic and the BS/C next to it both had to be helped out probably because the humidity was only 60%, I put a sponge in and it is now closer to 70%. Five out and three more piped, I will candle your BG egg tonight but I think it wasn't looking good the last time I checked it earlier this week.

Congrats Bill, it looks like maybe this hatch is going pretty well. I am really happy for you and I hope a bunch more pop out between now and Monday.

Making another shoe for this pretty guy, the first one didn't worked well.

Very pretty! At least it looks like only 1 toe, and he can walk, so not the end of the world. One of my older IB hens has awful looking toes, someone should have put shoes on her at hatch, but apparently didn't know how.

I wish if someone can design shoes for peachicks so it can be easier to fix toes problems!

Higher humidity while incubating and hatching, then low pip to zip and out time will end crooked toes.I use shipping tape that is clear, cut a piece about 5" long, then carefully place the toes so they are not leaning one way or the other, but straight and level, then fold tape over the top and press together between each toe and cut off the excess.I've had one group that hatched this summer so far that gave me more grey hairs than I cared for when we lost power for 6 hours. But the last two groups has basically been perfect.
