2014 BYC Calendar - Your Pictures Needed!

I am loving looking through everyones photos!!! Beautiful.

So I wasn't here last year when they did the calendar. How does this work? The admins narrow it down and post a gallery? Is there voting on the site, or just a group? When do they decide the favorites?

after I clicked on this top picture it seemed to really come alive with all the detail and lighting. The hen is so pretty with the chicks.....I would vote that this picture should be used in the calendar. my 2 cents...J

Regarding contest timing, judging, etc:

Once we get a lot of submissions we'll begin the judging process. Here's how the judging process will probably work:

1. Our team will go through and filter out all the submissions that don't meet the requirements for the calendar (takes about a week after the deadline for submissions)
2. We'll gather all the links to the images together and we'll have our entire community go through and rate the pictures (I'm guessing it will probably be around 100+ pictures and take a week)
3. Once all the pictures are rated, our team will review the top submissions and choose the 13+ images that will end up in the calendar. (about a week)
4. Then the images go into the design and printing process and head into our store (about 3-5 weeks)
5. We hope to have the calendars in our store by the end of October!

Here are some of the details from the first post about the timing. I recall last year they made an announcement about a week before closing submissions before moving on to the filtering and judging. The judging was posted in a different section of the forum last year and I think it lasted less than a week. Was it under the announcements section?

Please dear administrators, post a clear announcement at the top of the forum (not just on the home page) when community rating has begun.

I was on the look out last year for the judging in the "Pictures and Stories" section of the forum and completely missed the judging process.

Of course it may be a bit different this year, but I bet the end of submissions will be announced soon.

It has been fun looking at all the photos.

Is it inappropriate to start a thread in a different forum to help me decide on my entries? I posted my 2 entries but I have a 3rd that I feel is just as good and I am having a tough time deciding?

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I wish that the comp was closed, so I could stop all this indecision. It took me ages to pick 2 and I'm not sure they are the best ones. Sigh

This is Lucky.

I was going through the eggs a hen had been sitting on and found one that had been severely smashed on two sides. I cast it aside assuming the worst and went on about my business. Afterwards, I picked the egg up to give my girls a "science lesson" about developing chicks and when I peeled back a part of the membrane, the chick inside moved! Duct tape was all I had, so we taped the egg up and put it in the incubator. Several days later, "Lucky" kicked the end off and marched out! You can see a little bit of the "who are you looking at" attitude that he has to this day!
