2015 August hatch-a-long!!

Sav-a-chick really works! It is so wonderful! My poor chicks couldn't walk, they could barely even open their eyes and they couldn't lift their heads. We put drops of water on their beaks for them to swallow. I was sure at least a couple would die. But with lots of work (holding them so their heads were upright, keeping them warm, giving them water with sav-a-chick, ect, they seem to be getting better! The strongest, Adrian, is walking some while the other two can lift their heads and crawl now.

They are in a box right now, in my room. They have our snakes heat light over them, as their own was too strong for such a small box. There is a piece of cardboard in it for them to hide under if the light gets too hot.

Adrian, Enterprise, and Precious when they could barely move

Congratulations..! You did a great job. Yes, it takes some effort to get these little ones going that you help out. They do take some time to start walking around, they like to do what I call....the paddle walk at first. It's cute. :) Electrolytes is a great help in the beginning..as well as the baby vitamins..without the iron. :) Tiny tiny amounts of it a couple of times a day, for a few days.

OMG came home to a cracked egg! The hens have not gotten off this nest the past couple days so I haven't been able to sneak any peeks and then today a little surprise! Should I shut both the hens in with the babies since they seem to be tag teaming? The white one is like taking all the credit and she only sat on the nest for like maybe the past week LOL

That is soo cute! I'm not familiar with these. I've heard good and bad about .. sharing... You know the birds, and just watch is what I would say. To see if they will mother together well. That's a cute baby!

Thanks Cynthia. I just went and sat and watched them and they seem to be doing well together. The baby was popping about and they were lifting up their wi ha letting it snuggle under each of them so I think they will be ok.

I can't believe my RIR's and Sexlinks will go into lock down on Sat.!

Then I have some from my flock that are coming along nicely.

I'm joining the party! I will be setting 2 dozen shipped Salmon Faverolles this weekend. It'll be my first time using my Brinsea Octagon 40 Advance EX. I'm pretty excited. I'm hoping for a BIG change from the LGs and Hovabator Genesis I'm used to!

Today is day 7 so I candled all 14 of my eggs. 1 I think the person who sent them to me mislabeled. It looks like the air cell is on the wrong side. But the egg doesn't have a " pointy " side. So I decided to relabel and turn it upside down. It had a bit of a detached cell so I will leave it like this for a few days then recandle and see where it's at. I have 3 questionable including one I think has a blood ring. But all the rest have def veining. A few I could even see the whole embryo and even some I could see the eye. It was so awesome
