Thanks, I just did the candling and 6 of 15 eggs made it to lockdown.  Normally I wouldn't be happy with that number, but my little silver duckwing old English game bantam rooster met an accidental untimely fate.
    Our first thought was to try to get another like him but then we decided to see if we could hatch any eggs from him.  Five of the eggs were pulled from the fridge and I really didn't expect anything from them which is what happened.
   Two had been added to the incubator a day after the others and one made it to lockdown.  One didn't. So technically 6 of ten went into lockdown.  Since our rooster was gone over a week before any eggs went in the incubator, I'll take what I can get.  Hopefully we'll get another little roo with a big personality and a friend or two to keep him company.

Awww I'm sorry to hear that. And I remember thinking to myself.....that sounds like a really awesome breed. As I've never seen or heard of it. I have English game bantys. In the fridge? Oh I did not know once you'd put them in there that you could still attempt a hatch on them. How long before they'd be no good? I learn something new everyday! Yes that makes sense. I'll pray that y'all do.

No posts yet as I reckon it's because it's still August! And everyone is here. Do not want to take anything or anyone away from here. Hopefully I won't be lonely long.

You're welcome glad I could help. I'd hate for you to think you were incubating alone especially when tomorrow I'll have 21 eggs in the incubator lol not including the two in lockdown I'd hate to be by myself

I went into lock down today too, with more of the same that just hatched for me. Getting a lot of black babies. Will have the Golden going down their necks, can see some brown areas already on the heads of some.

The little white one is from a leghorn egg. Should be a great layer if a girl.



This is the dad, very young at the time of breeding! Will get quite big. Wish I could have
kept him! He was a good boy. On a farm now. A happy camper with more girls I'm sure.
