Do you keep food out all day or just bring it out at certain times? We're having issues with birds. Thank you!

Most everyone with chickens will have a problem with wild birds. We were feeding the jay shrubs, tweeties birds, squirrel and anything else that came into the coop for feed. Wasted lots of feed since the chickens like to pull the feed out of the container onto the ground.

We built a new feeder a few months ago that the hens cannot pull the feed out of the feeder. They just eat and that's it. It took a little while for all of them to learn how to use the feeder and get their feed out of the feeder. Hens got the hang of it and now all of them know how to use and open the feeder to eat.

I advise you to get a covered feeder that only opens when the chickens stand on the feeder to eat, that is what we have now. We do leave the feed out all day long. They get feed twice a day. Morning and a few hours before sunset I get them more. They also get scraps from the house.

Everyone gets carried away when posting pictures. Regardless if it's chickens, ducks, dogs, cats. I call my animals my kids and they are part of my family.

Love that color sweater, she looks great in it - which leads me to think - BYC should have a Chicken Fashion Show contest.

You can suggest that for a hatch a long..would be great fun! The NYD and EHAL are always trying to think of new contests.
