2016 Gosling Hatch-a-long

this is my first time with geese have a couple of toulse,i think.
was wondering is it like the chicken they lay till the get enough then set it what.
there are like ten eggs in there n showing no signs of wanting to set on them.the gander is all kinds of defensive about us around the nest box.

I've had one wait till she had over 20 eggs. I don't let them keep that many anymore.

Ok got 4 eggs from the buff and 5 from my brown Africans and tossed them in the incubator with my 6 other fertile eggs. They will be 9 days apart. Incubator is now full with total of 15 goose eggs. Hopefully the second batch will have more fertile eggs!

This is how I "mist" my eggs not really misting though.
I get a bowl or large cup of luke warm water.

I slowly put in the egg.

I keep hold of the egg and slowly put it under water for 9 seconds.
(once the air-cell gets bigger it will start floating so do it slower or pour water over the shell that's above water while in a cup).
Straight after I put them in the incubator ;)

So today this happened....

Bob my 11 month old gander was doing mating signals towards me....

He was excited to see me.....

He stood still and looked at me and then.....

He jumped on top of me and tried to mate with me

(the black is his beak).

This is where I'm going to create a both air and ground predator proof run for the African goslings that I've in the incubator.

I stopped taking the African goose eggs as my incubator is full so now they can lay and brood.
Only problem is there's feathers in the nest which means only one thing which is she's going to brood any day now but there's only two eggs :/.
Hopefully she'll brood when there's atleast 3 more eggs!

Caught the embden female laying! She's the only non-African goose that will stay because she's massive.
