2016 Gosling Hatch-a-long

We received our first decent snowfall of the year, and my buff dewlaps are in full breeding mode. I cannot imagine any eggs being fertile, especially since most have been sitting in below freezing temps in nests, but I gathered up 14 eggs and fired up my bator. If by chance some develop, they will be xmas babies. Simply crazy.

J your a gluten for punishment probably all 14 will hatch. LOL

We're having weird weather also over here in Ireland after a usually dry October with dry freezing weather for November. We normally have very wet mild weather. But I like this weather!
My young ganders are doing mating signals at a very early age. They are the largest African ganders I ever had also. It's the buff gene that might be the reason they're this big.
My females are acting normal but testy with each other.

Hey serv, your going to have to show some pics of your young ganders.. I am seeing my gander Sam's personality begin to change. and Missy was inside the duck house looking around. Aren't they funny.

Yes I will on Wednesday when I've the time.
I've got one gander and one female buff growing a dewlap in their first year. Usually it grows at 18 months so they've the good breeding genes ;)
Love the way the youngest and smallest of all the goslings turned out to be the largest.
He's the biggest gosling I bred myself so far. Called him "Oh wise slender one" when he was 2 weeks so I guess he has a name haha
Pics will come soon!

Hello everyone! It's been months since I've even looked at this site. Nothing much to tell just that the only birds I have are geese. I couldn't part with them but I needed a break from the others. My flock is at 9. I also successfully fixed angel wing this summer, on one of my goslings that was over 4 months old at the time. She has full mobility of the wing and I can't tell she ever had a problem.

Good to hear 8! A lot happened this summer but I'm never online during the summer time unfortunately as it's such a busy time. Fox got a few here and there but the Fox was taken care of. Flock is now all set and ready to breed in the next 2 months or so

Only have 3 photos but I'll get more soon! Geese were washing themselves so it was mad.

This is the first female to ever grow a dewlap in the first year.
This year was the first year to successfully have buff african females which I got 6 of!

This is Oh Slender Wise One" my biggest African gander I ever had so far in the first year. First gander also to grow a big dewlap in the first year. He's the youngest of all my goslings and this nearly exactly 9 months old. Father is a Buff in African and mother is a brown African :)
