2016 Gosling Hatch-a-long

Hello, I'm Elise, Dutch, living in France. I have chickens and quails, until the neighbours from the next village gave me some of their goose eggs to make a nice giant omelette. But no, I set the 6 eggs 5 weeks ago in the incubator, 4 were infertile but the other 2 were ok and hatched last Monday / Tuesday. They are just wonderful! I walked them yesterday and they followed me everywhere. What a joy!
Je ben nederlands? Ik ook! hou van je baby gansjes! Anyways back to English it looks like one of your goslings is a tuft gosling and a pied ;)

And it looks like my embden has started to brood on her eggs ;)
Look at all those feathers!

13 days in for my eggs in the bator and still have 7 going strong. Also finally caught the little pest that was raiding my nests. It was an opossum he's no longer a problem now. Now if my girls start brooding I could have a second hatch around the first part of May.

Gosling pen nearly finished! Only one more row of top fencing and a door ;)

African goose brooding since the 21st of March 5 eggs I candled today and I think four of them are fertile.

So my buff african female stopped brooding on her eggs 3 days ago so I put her two eggs under a broody chicken. I saw no use for the buff African pair and she wasn't laying anymore so out of the breeding pen they went and back to the back they went. Since they are back it changed the whole atmosphere with all the Africans. In the picture the buff male is fighting a young brown male.

Here is bob and he is best friends with the male and female in the background.

Bob was talking to me a lot and was acting strange when his friend came over.

I found it strange that Bob was rustling his wings when his mate was near him -_- and then this happened.....

Fight lasted 3 minutes.... All because the buff pair moved back.

Sayjay wasn't impressed even though he was encouraging them to fight :E

Hopefully this year I'm going to hatch enough females to calm all the ganders hormones next year ;)
