2016 Gosling Hatch-a-long

Well I don't know about infertile it was on day 7 and it had a small red spot but never got no veins and it also had a red ring but not complete, but when it started turning dark I knew it must have died so I cracked it open and it had normal yolk watery stuff and this thick sludge stuff the best I can explain it, it looked like u heated butter then poured it in water and it clobbered looked really strange I just figured it's how a scrambled egg looked or something.

A blood ring is a early death. If it got darker and no veins then it's definitely a temperature problem. It is either too high or too low. I know what you mean about the fluid and I know what it looks like.
Day 7 really early and is often a temperature problem.
Temperature and turning are very important in the beginning of incubation.

Ok thank u. Well after I got my Styrofoam incubator little giant I was so excited to get eggs lol till after I read reviews then I got less excited and scared so I'm looking for a new.one and hopefully can get it.soon and get this temperature checked out now and see what's going on. I had it on four days before I got eggs and it held steady at least it said and the themometer said 99-100 so I will figure this.out tonight hopefully if not I have a duck who won't leave her infertile eggs I'll see if she will set on them for me lol

I would say definitively put them underneath the duck! Especially since her eggs are infertile.
You will get goslings for sure that way.
Some incubators are not trustworthy. I used to have I don't know what incubator and it hatched chicks but never a gosling.

Ok here's the last batch of eggs I'm incubating. The sixth egg will be laid tomorrow so it's six eggs going in. All Barbaras eggs.
Now they can all lay and brood themselves.
I think that if you keep taking their eggs that they will be better with egg production and lay more every year ;)

Since I have room for another egg I've decided to put in another African goose egg in. The goose is only 10 months old but it's just an experiment. Byc is all about experiments too. The father is a brown african but has the buff gene so who knows what colour the gosling will be.
I think it's 25% of being buff female

Not to forget to mention that Bob's mom was 11 months old when he was laid.

Ok I took some of her eggs well most of them she had 31 eggs in there lol and put fresh wood chips and put 4 of the five eggs in there with a few of her own she has fluffed and arranged them and has been setting on them about an hour now she is such a good setter only wish I would have.done it sooner, she threw up on all them when she.first went in watery stuff and she has turned several times but she is setting on them. I have one still in the incubator until I can go get some glue it was cracked when I got it I put nail polish on it right away and I can see the baby moving all around, I heard u can use glue and toilet paper on the crack to strengthen it and once I do I'll put it in there to but I'm just worried she will bang it together and crack it open at the min so later today I'll get it finished and put that one in there to. I also put a small heat lamp in so when she is gone for a very long time to turn on, she has her own lake so she goes for a swim sometimes over a hour so I just want to be prepared. Thank u for helping me and I'm sorry I'm a pest I just really want baby geese and I want to cry every time I loose one I have to burry every egg lol my kids think I'm crazy. Anyways thank u so much for all your help

All sounds good and you should definitely get goslings if they are going under a duck ;)

I took pics today of an egg that died of bad temperature today.

The left side and the right side both show a red thick line going down all the way around to the bottom of the egg back around.
Just like a big blood ring.

Seeing a dark ball with no blood veins means it's dead.
Sorry for bad pictures! It's harder then it seems

and a few of min looked like that, it's so sad when it happens, I'll keep updating on my eggs

Last night, my hubby caught the skunk going into the coop and somehow managed to chase it into a trap and once trapped, he then shot it. So no more skunk stealing my white African eggs. Finally. Yay!

I too am having challenges with my bator temps holding steady and have had a rough start with 1st set of eggs. It is a new bator and a new location for it, and I am noticing it is dropping too low in the overnight hours, which has affected development of eggs. Because I have it in my office closet which does not have a heater vent in it, it is getting super cold in there at night, so I guess I will have to open door in evenings, but be sure to close it in mornings as it is a sunny room that gets quite warm in the afternoon. Ah well, I have a much better collection of white african and buff dewlap eggs to set this weekend so will slip the one developing buff under my buff broody and try again.

I so want to hatch babies from my whites and prize buff pair and where there is a will, there is a way!
