Just wanted to share an experiment that I did. The other day, I ended up in a debate on the PA poultry Facebook page over dry hatching so i did an experiment and put a sensor under my broody, Ana to measure the humidity that was in her nest. The first time i checked, it was 100° and 28% humidity. Second day was 98° and 30% humidity, then today, i checked one last time before i removed the sensor (since she has eggs now) and took a picture of it just for conformation. I felt it was a very meaningful experiment, seeing as how the humidity outside was so high from the rain and she still had her humidity pretty low. I definitely feel great about dry hatching now

FYI-outdoor is from sensor under Ana, Indoor is actualy outside conditions lol

I have 140 bobwhite quail eggs set to hatch on jan. 16th.

I also have 85 chicken eggs incubating that are set to hatch on the 21st. cream lebar. welsummer and french copper marans.

I am doing another jan. hatch along would like to join this one as well if I can.

No. I'm just getting started with them.

picked up 5 hens and cockerel last week.

while I was getting them she said she had hatching eggs I got 4.5 dozen. so that's what I'm incubating now

I do. I am just hatching show birds this month, next month I start hatching selling birds.

I have all three colors of legbars, Cream, crele, and white.

I have Polish, yokohama, Partridge Chanticler, Dominiques, Cuckoo Marans, Speckled Sussex and Toads hatching this month, IF the appletinis ever start laying I can hatch some of them. Stupid lazy birds!!!


I so love the hatching season, it is the best 8 months of the year!

Oooo do you have a price on a dozen or two eggs? Also, how are the egg color on your CCL? And I don't think I've seen are crele legbars or even whites. Do you have pics? Do you find that one color variety lays bluer eggs over the others?

Now that I got to thinking about it, isn't a cream legbar a crele in itself? Which is just barring over wild type with different modifiers creating the cream or gold hackles?

Or are your creles like a barred wheaton?
