2017 Groundhog Day Hatch-a-long!

I have 3 eggs in the incubator set to hatch on Jan. 23rd. They are from a pair of brahmas I have. They will be blue/gold partridge brahmas. So eggcited

I finally am able to hatch my own eggs...its been a long time coming!

I also have a hen sitting on a few eggs. She's a first timer though so I don't know if she'll be able to pull it off. I'll keep you posted though

I've just candled my White Call eggs (currently on day 6) and 5/6 are fertile and developing nicely!!!!

I candled my turkey eggs yesterday. I couldn't see well in all of them but definitely some of them have veining! The first eggs of the year are fertile! I have 8 more sitting on the counter that will be set tomorrow along with any the get laid today and tomorrow Poult season is coming!

Thanks Sally! I've missed being on here. So excited for my babies. My rooster is a splash out of a breeder from southern Idaho and my hen is a gold/black from a breeder in Florida. If I understand it correctly then the babies should be blue/gold. I've started giving the mereks vaccine to all chicks I hatch from now on because something went through my coop this last year that killed a number of them. I never had any of them tested but it looked like it might have been mereks. Doesn't hurt to vaccinate either way. It's good to hear form you, good luck with your hatches

I love following these threads, it a lot of fun to see everyone's babies and hear about current projects everyone is working on.
