2017 Groundhog Day Hatch-a-long!

Sorry I am so late to the party!!! I got grounded for 3 weeks........

I set my eggs on January 12th so that they will hatch on Groundhog day...Today is day 6 and mannnnnn, I am one more anxious mama.......

Took me two days to get the humidity right, it was too high for two days, then I got it right for a while, came home one day after swim and the reservoir was empty, but now I think it is all under control...

FIRST HATCH EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo excited. I will candle them tomorrow!

My bobwhites are hatching.

Woke up and so far it looks like 27 are out running around in the incubator. Several more still pipped and trying to zip.

Will put a few pics up after all are done.

Sweet!!!! Congrats!! I have one really tiny serama out and I see more pips!

Moved to brooder Huddled under light.

46 moved to brooder. 3 I had to help out still in incuvator. 3 pipped and died. 2 with external pips still moving around.

This was out of 150 eggs I got off ebay. There were several cracked in shipping. Over half were shipped upside down.

I was hoping for 20 to 25 to hatch because of my past bad luck with shipped eggs. So rate might not be the best but I'm tickled I have more than I was expecting.

There are lots of people in my area that want laying hens. My school schedule this semester won't allow me to get a regular job, so I sell pullets on the side for extra money

The eggs go in tonight!!!! I ended up with a full 42 eggs to set

Even though it is "winter" (I live in Texas, so mainly less sunlight) my hens are still going strong!

The 3 bobs I helped out all made it thru the night. 6 more hatched out.

Still waiting on 2. Have been pipped for quite awhile. Went to assist one and still a lot of blood in membrane.

So still waiting but not holding out much hope for the last 2.
