2018 Newbie Chat!

Now I have the biggest garter snake I have ever saw hanging around the coop. Could not catch it, but is between 3-4 ft. There are lots of frogs too, more then ever this year. I bet that is what the chickens saw when they went into alert mode the other day, silly me thought it was a bird in the weeds...

All I envision is my dog catching it and putting it in me in the middle of the night. I'm not afraid of snakes but I don't want to wake up to one either...

Awwww great video clip - your birds are gorgeous, love the colour - what breed are they? I like the look of your coop too - is this part of the old horse stall?
Thank you, they are red sex-link hens. It is the old horse stall. I have wire around the top so when they are up higher, they can see out into the rest of the barn. The manger is on the left and has hay and shavings in it for a nest box and has a little "roof" on it that they like to hang out on.

4weeks! All are still alive!!

She's an Easter egger :)
She lays nicely pointy olive eggs.

I went to the state Fair over the weekend and the LF chickens there are just huge. Now I don't think she is so big anymore. Lol
Ahhh I've heard of Easter egger but never seen one - she is a real beauty.

You've seen bigger chickens than yours! They must be massive Lol - we went to our food/bedding supplier today and saw one of the cutest chickens ever - they are called Sebrights and are so small, smaller than a pigeon, I thought they were only about 5 weeks old until the seller told me they are adults! Gotta be the tiniest chicken breed I've ever seen.

So clever - I bet they love it!
