They've mostly been sleeping for the last hour. Is that normal?

ETA: not long after I posted that they all came out and started eating and drinking a bunch. They seem pretty happy.

ahhh what cuties! And yeah they'll just eat drink and sleep the first few days. As long as theres lots of the first two happening they're fine.

Thanks! I realized my past experience with chicks has always been with 20+, and with that many there was pretty much always someone zooming around, so to see the brooder go completely silent and still was weird at first.

My babies are getting so big! I have to go out of town for a class for 4 days this morning so my husband will be chick sitting I know hes up to it but I hate not having control over their wellbeing. But they're all thriving so hopefully no one will randomly take a turn in the next 4 days

Technically the best pricing is not going to be on Amazon since the pricing at a feed store or grain supplier is probably going to be for a 50 pound sack for some ridiculously cheap price like 10 bucks. Amazon has barley (I checked), but you are going to pay way more per pound since it is the fancy branded versions in smaller quantities sold to people who want to sprout it for their own micro greens consumption. Or smoothies or whatever the latest fad is. But the smaller quantity and higher price is fine if you are not trying to sprout 50 pounds. Not like it is THAT expensive.
