2021 Chick Order

Pics
I got some of those save a chick electrolytes. They had a 3 pack so I figured that will last until at least tomorrow (there some odd chicks here that I'm planning to scoop up and see what they are if they're in stock tomorrow still. They're just labeled st. Run and a bunch have an extra back toe so I'm really curious what the neck they are.)

The electrolytes, do I just mix them into the water and give them that instead of regular water?

Here's some wing pics from Welp group. First 3 are the barreds, and am I right thinking 1 is a girl and the other 2 are boys?

Also the silkies I was talking about earlier. The first is the normal buff I was expecting, the second is the one that seems to almost be the wrong color

Gah, lost 4 more today. 2 bresse, a naked neck bantam and one of the dark cornish subs. The Cornish in not sure about, but I'm afraid I stressed too badly last night. No signs of pasty butt and the breese were limp still, not stiff like usual. I'm running to the store to pick up some savachick stuff, not sure what else to do. They have feed and fresh filtered water, there's a heat spit and a cool spot, and the Cochins in that group are starting to act a bit off too now.
This why I stay away from ordering chickens 🙄

Unfortunately unless I want white leghorns and sexlinks, i have to order chicks.

I thought you placed an order from Hoover's though
I canceled it and got chicks from TSC because I was scared so yeah. They had really cool breeds TSC had interesting breeds I was planning if I didn’t find cool breeds and TSC I would take a risk and go ahead and order my cart chicks.

Based on the amount of white, I think you're probably right about the first being female and the third being male, but I'm not as sure about the middle one. You might well be right :(

I agree, that's odd.

I have seen various spotty patterns in the feathers of Buckeyes that later grew up to be a nice, even dark brown; and similarly with a Wheaten Old English Game Bantam. So I wonder if those spots will disappear when it grows up, and leave it a proper Buff color? I don't know enough about Silkies or Buff to be sure, but I think they have quite a few genes in common with the ones I have seen with spotty baby feathers and solid adult feathers.

Cool, so I might actually have 2 from that Cochin trio? The last I'm certain is a boy. He's already got that attitude, same with one of the piggies in that group.

So the smutty one is still worth watching and isn't a lost cause already colorwise?

I know the theory, but I'm not good at applying it in practice :(

But when I see one clearly each way, and one in between, I suggest giving the in-between one a while to become more clear one way or the other. :idunno

(And I try to remember to check back for the results, so I can make a more accurate guess in future ;) )

Well it will definately be updated. I have 5 more in the Dunlap if they all make it (one is still acting off but the others seemed to stabilize) to compare as well. If it helps, the darkest had a small head spot and the other two had large spots.

And the silkie is worth watching too in case that ones color improves?

Then it is more likely that you have two males.

I just don't know enough about that color and that breed, so I would keep it for now and see how it develops. But that's partly because I like to see what happens.

But I don't know how desperate you are to reduce the total number of chicks by removing the less-good ones, so you may not want to keep "maybes" around.
