2021 Chick Order

Pics
It's been raining all day. Not super hard for most of it, but hard enough I had to put on a coat amd look like a man of the night becaise I didn't think to just put jeans on instead of shorts cause, you know, it's cold now and not shorts weather .

Everyone is alive, however some are more wet and miserable than others. My silkies and d'Anvers are the main ones. David looks like I used him for a mop.

I have a broody barred Cochin now too, in a seperate box than my japanese. Well, kinda. They keep switching nests, but so long as booth don't kill any babies, I couldn't care less who has what group.

I have a few mixed eggs from this years birds scattered in nests throughout the broodies, mainly TSC mysteries, but a few bantam eggs too.

I think my first sebright Darling, may be the mystery layer. She's the first bird I've ever had squat when I go to touch her, and man I see why y'all like it so much. She has calmed down considerably, and I've never had luck with sebrights. Hoping Honey and Love do the same (they're about a month younger than Darling)

:hmm What's in the box?!

Anyone have any clue what sex these little guys are? 😂

Jk, they're supposedly sexed pullets. That's why I was allowed to get them, had to give them to a broody and take her eggs (thus lowering the batch from 9 eggs and potential cockerels to 4 that are supposed to be female) or if she
wouldn't take them, break her anyways and if be stuck raising some little yet again.

So far I think she's okay with them. My original hen I wanted to take them was absolutely not having them, so they're with the barred Cochin pullet so far.

Okay, the new ones seemed to spook the cochin, she stayed off the nest until I took them away.

Now they are with a seasoned mama who has babies roughly a week old. She was nesting with one on her own, and willingly let the other 3 under her when they moved towards her.

They're smart though. I had a cinderblock under a heat lamp and they went in there as opposed to under the lamp itself because it was a more comfortable temperature.

I ended up with 4 of these littles, not sure if I mentioned a number, hoping I have 4 tomorrow morning. It would be great if she took them in, I think she's a bit confused honestly not having a big clutch like normal. She's usually raising double digits and this batch only had 3 make it

David the silkie doesn't take s#!t from anyone. Beat the carp out of the wyandotte male yesterday to the point I had to seperate the Wyandotte because David was trying to get at him when I was holding him.

So possibly the prettiest bird in that group now is wallowing in self pity by himself looking like the tried to cut his own hair

Welp, my little sebright boy is definately not staying. Was looking at him last night and he has male saddle feathers. Except that his legs are the wrong color, I would think he's just actually an OEGB.

his coloringnusnt very nice either though, and he has a single comb, so unless my neighbor picks him as one she wants (unlikely considering the others I have she likes more), he'll be going. Shame, cause he is pretty, but completely wrong traits

Here are some pictures if the grouo i tool yesterday.

Big Boy is doing great with his group, and definately breeding. Looking forwards to hatching from them next year.

The Cornish bantam pen will go through some changes. I have yet to add the 2 pullets from this group due to the rooster, Dwight. He will be removed and joining my batchlor room, and then I will include the pullets, or I might just move all the bantams to the mixed female flock and use their pen for different bantams. Maybe if I can get my hands on some Araucana banties like I'm hoping.

Have yet to buy the 3rd coop like I've been trying. Schedules just haven't been too great lately.

Just look at these gorgeous birds. I'm so lucky to have them even if they're stressful sometimes.

And obviously dome of these aren't from this group, they're older. But I wanted to include my mystic onyxes and my mama huddled over her little that's in the shed currently woth the last 2 batches

Tagging birds Sunday and maybe Monday depending on if I run out of bands or time.
