2021 Chick Order

Pics
From where? & what breeds?
That will be a surprise until I post my orderings :lau:plbb:oops:

But I will say the one I have not found is the Dong Tao (not my pictures)

These massive birds were bred with massive feet for one reason. Their feet are considered a delicacy. These trademark feet also take months to develop, which means one cannot pick them out at hatch. They are currently illegal to transport out of Vietnam by it's own government, as it is considered to be one of the nation's treasures.

(I have one more breed I really kinda wanted, but I didn't want to risk chicks and they were out of juveniles so I passed. The Onigadori chicken. (Also not my pictures))

Claimed to be descended from the green junglefowl, they carry a nonmolting gene that stories claim led to tail lengths of 30-40 feet in length. Today, it's shorter, but the hatchery/breeder I was looking at claims 7 feet is common (in reference, pheonixes molt and often end with 3-4 foot tails)

And can y'all imagine how heavy a 40 foot tail would be? I'd probably have to bundle it in a ponytail so the animals didn't accidentally step on it all the time, but then he might just tip over

I'm so sorry :hugs
Thank you. This one hit me especially rough because she was the last one that survived the raccoon from that group and she was going to lay such a beautiful blue egg (I had been dreaming of it for months and just had that dream again last night which was rough).

Lately it seems that every single win I get is followed by a lose

I know how you feel... Not exactly but earlier this year my girls got attacked by a fox... Out of 10 hens 4 survived and of course all three roosters (which I was planning on rehoming) survived. And the foxes even killed a silkie throught a fence by pulling her head off... Again I'm very sorry..I can't imagine if one of those girls (or boys) died. Sending hugs!

Crispy and Rose passed. Crispy got chilled and Rose... We're not sure. Alexis might have hurt her by accident and started that or she might have just not been super healthy all along. She was small for her age as it was
