2021 Chick Order

Pics
Well, feel awful, I lost a teen little just now. Lately this group has gotten into the awful habit of going between the door to the shed and the mesh wall we put up about 3 inches inside the shed. One apparently was on the bottom and she didn't make it. Of course it was a pullet too, not one of the like 9 (out of 14) boys in that group, and so pretty, she had copper necklacing and blue body feathers.

I feel awful, I don't get why they crowd there and not literally anywhere else. I think I'm going to start taking the remaining girls and st. Run from that group and teaching them the big coop is home so this doesn't happen again.

Meet Menotius (sp? I'll fix it later). Son of Atlas and an exact look alike apart from leg color. He is staying and I'm hoping he stays kinder than his daddy was

A lot of stuff has been going on.

I built another small pen that is holding my teenagers for now and will hold my NN flock afterwards

My MoonBeam Mosaic got stuck in the netting upside down and had to be rescued (she's fine now)

Culled 2 more boys, have at least 2 more to do this weekend

My mystery illness might be back. Had a bird start going down hill fast yesterday, and she's acting like the batch did last year. Not sure what we'll do because we can't send her in for a necropsy if she doesn't make it until like november, and if it's the same as last year, we still don't have 100% certain what it was. I'm just hoping maybe she was dehydrated and she's better today

Built another prefab today. Putting the polish in on Monday when I can be around to watch for problems.

We did end up euthanizing her. She couldn't move well at all and was so skinny she wasnt going to back. Absolutely distraught, she was a pet more than most birds here.

We're not sure what it was, but we're thinking either cancer (her mom is a high production cross so I wouldn't be too surprised) Or my mom suggested a type of pneumonia. But it wasn't what happened last year and it didn't look like mereks pictures online at all.
