@RLockhart68, I think that as long as they're internally pipped, making a safety hole is fine. Better safe than sorry, IMO.

I'm not gonna get any sleep tonight chickened out on making the safety holes. Well, I guess I made them, but instead of poking a new hole, I gently pulled a small piece of the membrane away from where they were pipped. The first one I tried to make the separate hole and it was reddish when I got broke through . Baby was still singing and poking out after 30 minutes. Will check again soon . All 4 were poking their little bills out and talking to each other

Still have 4 singing eggs with no progress from last night. Seriously babies!!! Momma is not good at the waiting game

Baby #1 is out!!! I helped it a little bit since the membrane around the pip hole was drying out. Welcome baby Ritz! (Hubby says they have to have cracker names )

Now waiting for #2 3 & 4 who are very content just peaking out of the shell and talking to each other . Bonus, egg #5 pipped about an hour ago
