Still nothing but I can definitely hear the chickDo you have an external pip now?
Given how late your keets are, I would consider intervention. If you post on the Incubation forum, you can get opinions from people who do a lot of incubating…Still nothing but I can definitely hear the chick
How is it doing???I did intervene breaking away the hard shell and dried out membrane around the air cell and out flopped this little keet
Wow! They take a long time at your latitude! Mine have been laying for about a month, though it feels so much longer…Finally this evening I found the first guinea egg of the season. True to guinea style, it was dropped where she happened to be at the time the urge hit her. There is still no sign of any nesting activity.
It has been a strange winter and spring. I expected them to start laying a month ago but they are an older flock.Wow! They take a long time at your latitude! Mine have been laying for about a month, though it feels so much longer…
I now have another that just hatched same thing the little one was stuck with leather white membrane. So had to make a safety hole then gently peel away the dried out leathery membrane . While I was doing the school run it finished the hatch itself . I only peel away the aircell area the rest they do themselves. This am I gave the other keet some tonic which seemed to help then it was left alone under the brooder while I went to work . What a busy dayHow is it doing???
