This breeding season I decided to try an experiment with both my indigo and hazel birds. I had two breeder pens set up one with a Bronze split indigo rooster over hazel hens and one bronze split hazel over indigo hens. All told I hatched about 20 chicks from the pens and the results were as follows. I will be keeping these breeder groups together next year to get a better sampling but the percentages were roughly these.
Bronze split indigo rooster+ Hazel hens=50% hazel (both male and female) 25% Indigo (males and females) 25% bronze hens or bronze split to hazel/indigo roosters.
Bronze split hazel rooster+ Indigo Hens= 50% Indigo (both male and female, 25% hazel (both male and female) 25% bronze hens and bronze split to hazel/indigo cock birds
