21% later feed

So around here we have Feldman’s country store that carry a feed brand called country feed by nutrena. One type that they have is called egg producer that is 3.45 calcium and 21% protein. I know a lot of you guys use an 18% protein feed. Nd provide oyster shells to have higher than 16%. I like that idea but then saw this. Is 21% too high?

I would feed that over a 16% ration. You can always feed some scratch grains to cut the protein a bit but it isn't necessary.

I feed 20% starter/grower all the time, without any problems. If you feed a higher protein and give them any fruits/vegetables(treats)it will lower the total protein they consume. I would use it.

If you give treats like scratch, corn, kitchen scraps daily and Free range for part of the day, or Free range all day. Your good to go.
It was developed for a flock that FREE RANGES all day.
I recommend a 18-20% Protein feed for Backyard flocks, from past experience with limited low Protein treats for laying chickens. GC

I use high protein feeds like 21% for show birds cause it gives them a really luscious shine

I use this feed because my birds free range all day, so they eat lots of other things besides their poultry feed.
