*Update* just about 2 mins later after typing this I checked on her and there was a poop..it was a large one fairly normal..a little loose and had the calcium spot on it (Ill try and post a pic), and then 30 mins later I took her outside to say hi to her sister and she pooped the creamy stinky brownish type poop, but she still did it laying down.

I have a 21 week old Lakenvelder (Necked Betty who was my late bloomer and didn't get her adult feathers for 3 months) who started laying eggs on 9/1. I have 5 total chickens all aged within days of each other. She is the only one laying at this point. She was laying an egg every other day, until she laid one on 9/7 and then again 9/8 I noticed her in the nesting box and when I opened the door she was already standing up and low and behold an egg. Later that day I noticed her laying down in the yard and not hanging with the flock, I assumed she was just extra tired from laying an egg two days in a row, but a couple more hours later I noticed she had moved but still laying down and I started to worry. I watched her follow the others into the coop to roost for the night and she seemed to walk oddly, and her right wing was drooped a bit, she lost her balance trying to climb the ladder. I brought her into the house checked her out for obvious things. Her vent was fine, feathers were clean, nothing seemed broken, her wattle and comb were red and the comb was upright (although it is a very little comb). I figured she isn't egg bound even though those are some of the symptoms. I haven't actually seen her poop since I wasn't really watching each of them poop. I have checked her crop and there was nothing in it, that I could tell.
Today:
I have separated her.
I have given her Krill Oil (the juice of 2 capsules, 500mg).
I have given her Probiotic water, but I have to put it in front of her because she isn't getting up to drink it, but does drink when I put it near her.
I have given her layer crumble with grit and she ate quite a bit, again after it being put in front of her.
Still no poop, I figured that is the next thing to really look at.
The things I have changed recently:
I changed from grower crumble to Layer pellets (because she started laying). I also add about 1 tablespoon of oyster shells to this mix every morning in a pan.
I mowed the lawn on 9/6 and dumped the clippings off on the edge of the woods (I live in a pine forest) of my property (only about 40 yards from the yard), but I did see all of them digging in but didn't think anything of it. The lawn does not have any fertilizers or bug killers or anything on it.

I have not ever wormed my girls..I had no idea I was supposed to, but on a good note their poop doesn't show any signs that I can tell. But I'm headed to the store now to get dewormer, in case this is her issue.

Does anyone else have any suggestions on what it could be?

Do you know if she was vaccinated for Mareks disease? Some of her symptoms could possibly be related to Mareks, but hopefully, she is just acting off for some other reason. Normally oyster shell is not mixed into the feed, but just placed ina separate container for them to take as they need it. I would start some poultry vitamins in her water, or give her Poultry Cell vitamins 2 ml daily, in case of a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Make sure that she can reach both food and water, perhaps placing her in a dog crate or basket. Hopefully, she has just suffered an injury or something temporary. Let us know how she gets along.

They said all the chicks were vaccinated. I know how that goes sometimes. She is separated in a 100 gallon tank that I raised them in as chicks, with pine shavings on the bottom and fresh hay on top along with her water and food. She is in the house with me, but in a quiet laundry room with temperature control. Oh and another thing she seems to be panting, not sure if its just stress or if it is another symptom. Ok I just got back from the store getting wormer meds. I will stop by tomorrow and get the vitamins. Thank you!!

Ok!! Can i ask what is mash? is that mash potatoes?

Mareks vaccines are given as day old chicks normally, but the chicks have about 2 or 3 weeks to develop full immunity, and have to be kept away from any environment or other chickens that may be carriers until that happens. Keep in mind that many things can first look like Mareks, so just treat her symptoms and watch her. Is she a golden or silver lakenvelder? I had a golden once in my first group of chicks.

Hmmm...she is not doing well if she is laying down when she poops.

It could be injury. It might be aspergillis (fungal infection) or botulism as well. Check to make sure those lawn clippings aren't molding at the bottom if you pulled them out of a previously used lawn mower bag that had older clippings.

The other thought is indeed Marek's.

The Marek's vaccination is not 100% and it does not provide immunity. It is considered a "leaky" vaccine which merely helps to prevent the tumors that grow from the major strains of the virus. The birds still acquire Marek's but if the vaccination has done its job, they don't develop the dangerous tumors.

However, Marek's, being a virus, is also morphing, so like the flu virus, you can get a strain that is not covered by the vaccination, or your bird simply is more vulnerable to the virus.

Hopefully she will snap out of it. I personally would give her some liquid calcium supplement in case she has dangerously low levels. That might help too since this has happened at point of lay (but Marek's often hits at that stage too).

My thoughts

She is a Silver but her sister Lucy is a Golden..
I got all 5 at the same time (the other 3 are different breeds), but from the same place at the same time so hopefully its not the Mareks. I haven't given them Vitamins so it is very possible that she has a deficiency because she started laying. I will also put the Oyster Shell in a separate container.

Thank you..I'm gonna try all the other stuff first. If it is Mareks (after all has been ruled out) is the best thing to have her euthanized?

She just pooped the biggest poop I've seen.
