On Friday, my oegb hatched out three chicks, from a RIR x Thai. By Sunday morning she had taken them into the run at a frosty 22 degrees. They would spend 5 minutes out learning how to scratch and ear and 10 minutes under her wing. So far everyone seems happy and healthy.

Here are the other two:

Too cold? With Mama's down vest to tuck under? Certainly NOT!! If they have a properly attentive mama to snuggle with, it's nowhere near too cold!

OHHHH there is nothing better to me than Mama hen photo's with her babies. I guess Mama knows best. She just can't wait to get her babies out and teach them to scratch. I guess as long as she keeps them close by and only out a few minutes all is fine. Good luck with them.

I just got some OEGBs hoping that they would be good brooder/mothers. It looks like yours is doing a great job. And she sure is pretty.
