22 weeks old hens eggs ok?

Hi - very exciting when the eggs start coming. I posted a similar question a few months back. The advice given to me was to just wait as all the hens will develop at a different rate - just like people. And they did just that - I had 2 laying every day, 1 laying every other day and 1 laying eggs without a shell also every other day (only 4 hens in my flock). I just waited, made sure there was plenty to eat and drink, and some sort of calcium available (shell/oyster grit) available in a separate feeder. Now I have a daily supply of 3-4 eggs per day.

So I don't have to mix the shell with my feed? I can just put it in a separate feeder?

i got 4 out 10 hens laying, what should i do?
The answer is just be patient. They will start laying. It's not like they all start popping out eggs the second they hit 20 weeks. That's just not how it works. I kind of wish it did, though.

Hi - no I believe you have to mix it in. The information that I have gathered was to keep grit separate and the hens will then take what they need when they need. This seems to be the case for my girls.

thanks a lot! right now am battling with a leg injury on one of my girls. i mistakenly thot it was a sign of newcastle and gave my flock lasota vaccine. Am worried, are they gonna ok? what should i do? this morning i noticed some green poop in the coop. and 6 chicks looking sick.

massive death in my flock. I lost 51 out of 75 chicks. *sigh* one year of poultry hen experience, i never had this since i started. *sigh* what next? *sigh*
