Yes, she will take the chicks back. And if the egg is still viable, there is no telling when exactly the egg will hatch, if you can candle to see if it has internally pipped

Ok, I did try and listen for chirping and heard nothing.
I put her and her chicks back in her crate and she laying on it now.
I will leave her for now and check later today to see if anything has changed.
