I have 6 Silkies. I got rid of 2 awhile ago that were obvious roosters, and was pretty sure these were hens. But, some of them have large combs and wattles, and i saw one that looks like a pullet, do the circle wing thing to a hen.....None of them crow. Their behavior is 100% pullet, sounds, everything. I only got comb pics on some of them.

This one has huge comb and wattles. But, doesn't have streamers, or male feathering.

Thanks!

# 2 looks like a black male... the green iridescence in the tail and wings. In addition to the large comb. I would fully expect behavioral indicators... like actively trying to mate by that age though.

The waddles appear larger than others partly because that is non bearded and the bearding gene inhibits waddles.

Others appear female from what I can make out, though #3 pic is lacking in detail.

Actually... nice looking blues for Silkie. :thumbsup

The splash girl is pretty too. :love

I will state that EVEN my female Silkies will drop their wing and dance at subordinate birds. I saw one do it just yesterday.

Thank you!
I don't think iridescence in feathering really means anything.....unless the bird has male feathering to start with. Yes, i figured the large waddles were partly because the bird is non-bearded, but they are so large. I guess we will see.
#3 i'm pretty positive is a female.
(All my silkies except one turned out so dark, they are practically black.)

They all look like pullets to me. My non bearded has a really big comb. I was almost positive she was a he, until she laid an egg. And yes, she has some shiny feathers too. This is BooBoo, (one of five).

They all are gorgeous.

Personally, I think they're all pullets. :) And cute ones, at that!

Thanks! That's what I'm hoping. I think a few of them are laying, but I haven't figured out which ones quite yet.

This is off subject, but I have these two EEs,and they just started laying. Anyway, they've been laying pullet sized eggs, and they're green, so very noticeable. Last night, one of them all of a sudden laid this huge green egg! I mean, it's as big as my BR egg, and she's a year old. I don't know what caused it at all....

You're more than welcome! :)

When concerning pullets who have only recently come into lay, one can't be certain what'll they'll discover in the nesting box. ;)

When things are working themselves out double, triple, or even more yolkers are possible. Some can cause issues with binding or prolapse.

Glad your girl is OK!
