I just checked my mallard’s nest and found that she has 24 eggs that she is incubating. This seems like an awful lot of eggs for one nest. Anyone have any idea as why there are so many? I only have 1 female and 1 male mallard so there was not any egg dumping going on.

wow! She sure is determined!
Are you planning on keeping some, selling some?
1 drake with 1 hen isnt very ideal, as he could overbreed her, and usually a minimum of three is a good rule! So perhaps you could keep a few hens if they hatch? Or divide the males and females to two separate groups?
Best of luck!

I was wondering how many of the 24 eggs hatched out? I had a Mallard Hen that laid 18 eggs and hatched out 11 of them. Nine of them were drakes and two hens. I hope that yours came out good for you.
