Mom is a black broiler. Dad is Ree-Shard (From the fantastic thread regarding what breeds you wish you had). Incubator: White Silkie.

The hatch has been ongoing since yesterday around 7pm. Its 8pm here now. I am attaching pictures. Do I assist? If so, please let me know what to do.

I held egg for picture then put back exactly how it was. Silkie is snuggling it hardcore.the film is getting dry and hard, but the chick can breathe through a hole it made.

Definitely assist, the membrane is getting dry, so there's a very small chance that there are still blood veins attached. See if you can get it to start struggling again by gently pulling apart the two halves, then completely pull it apart as it pushes. You might have to moisten the membrane with some water to help it get out. Good luck!

Chick smells rather rancid and is... misshapen. I haven't yet experienced "mushy chick," as I have heard it called, but I am wondering. Is this mushy chick /umbilical infection?

I would say if the chick smells rancid, then yes, there's infection.
Not sure if you should attempt to clean up the mess that's on the chick or not for fear of it getting too cold, but that "gunk" that's on it, I'm going to guess is bacteria laden.
If the nest is soiled, then I would consider putting this chick on clean paper towels or a puppy pad, of course provide it heat and see how it goes.
