I got a 5lb bag of Manna Pro Gamebird/showbird starter grower. It says it is good for raising turkeys, ducks, and geese. I have never had turkeys before, but I know that is way too much protein for ducks or geese. Is 24% okay, or should I add rolled oats?

I am getting them on Thursday, they will be 2 days old.

I started my poults on 27%, then weaned them off of that at about 7-8 weeks. They eat with the chickens, 17% layer. I feed my pheasants and quail 24%.

We feed 28% protien medicated game bird startedfor the first 3 months then a 20% medicated start n grow until 6 months after that they go out with the flocks and get either an 18 or 20% layer depending in the season.

I didn't even think about that, my chicks are going to get medicated starter, but the turkey starter is unmedicated. Could I mix in some Purina medicated start and grow, or is that totally pointless? I wouldn't want them to get sick!

You will cut down the protien and the level of cocci med if you mix. Alot of people use non medicated starter and do ok. Just watch for cocci and keep the brooder extra clean. I would keep some sulmet on hand because you know if they get it, it will be on a weekend when the feed store is closed.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I will be sure to keep their brooder extra clean. Thanks!
