25 chickens, how much space?

Instead of insinuating most on here are wrong, how about letting the OP know your setup and how it works for you in your climate?
Because climate, free range, and other factors do matter. Or you can just shove a bunch of birds in a cage and say see, it works....
^This.

Number of birds matters also. Two birds in a 2x4 space is much different than 200 birds in a 20x40 space.

And other things. Four birds like my Spice would need more space than four birds like my Coco. Spice is very active and very reactive. She runs often even though ten feet with obstructions doesn't give her much of a straight shot. She tends to explode into the air when she sees or hears something new. The closest she comes to stopping moving is to preen or to study how to get something she can't have but occasionally tries to get anyway (like the top of the walls to roost on or my face to eat).

Coco shares top rank with Spice - important because subdued behavior can be the result of being lowest ranking rather than personality. Both want top spot and both fight for it (still, at a year old). Coco never runs anywhere; she strolls around with the others making way for her. She often spends a lot of time simply perched in a sunny spot apparently looking at nothing.

The term for this sort of thing is "tolerates confinement" when it is natural attitude/behaviors.

Everyone has their own opinion on what is right and wrong. It can be very overwhelming to sift through all the information being thrown at you. For instance, I don’t see what’s wrong with a dirt floor, but the OP doesn’t want that. @Pickensandchigs has probably read countless posts about what’s right and wrong, just like I have.
