I have a flock of 5. One is a bantam. I do have my run wraped in plastic with several inches open on top for ventilation. My water is a nipple water with a heater in it. ( it's never frozen) there house has a heat board I only turn it on when below 5 degrees. Mostly to prevent frozen eggs. I added an entire bale of straw in the run. Is there anything else I can do?

Oh and make sure you buy heat lamps with plastic coverings over the bulb (you can buy these premier one brand at Southern States, or probably TSC). They protect the bulb and help prevent coop fires.

I have the same weather here. I like to put extra bedding and make it really cozy. I just crack one window to make sure there is no moisture build up. I also give them warm oatmeal, corn, and oatmeal and banana mash.

I have the heat board on high. I don't use heat lamps. I closed the window but there are holes up high for ventilation. The window is more for light and extra ventilation on nice days. I will do warm oatmeal and bananas. Plus extra scratch.

Your birds will be fine. I keep frizzles and have kept silkies here in Wisconsin where winters are long and brutal. My birds have always done fine without extra heat.

I like to throw out scratch twice a day to get birds moving and give them some extra calories.
