25 Hens in 8x10 coop

Thanks, my only worry as they start putting on weight and grow into adult hood, but sounds that by that time they will be best buds!

That seems to be a little tight to me, my concern is with socialable issues, they tend to peck and pick when crowded especialy in winter when they tend to stay inside longer. It may be warmer but theirin lies the issue.

yes they only sleep in there, no laying yet but soon and yes it's in there. The pen is covered with a roof and the run is covered with netting however today we are going to change the run and put on a roof of sorts

4 sq ft per standard in coop, 10 sq ft per in run
2 sq ft per bantam in coop, 5 sq ft per in run


I had to many in mine and they started fighting each other at night. It was horrible.

Might i add, i do love the coop! It is so cute and i want my husband to make the same one for my bantams.

From what I've read in teh forums it is 2 sq feet per hen??? Oh no!

Do you have bantams, i might have misread. If you have standards, you WILL have a problem.

Mine were fighting cause we didn't have enough perches. to be honest we did the whole coop wrong. SIGH, we fixed it! I would hear them going at it and would just cringe until we could fix it. You could always build another coop! LOL we are buliding another for the laying hens, the one we have will be for juvies and then i want one like yours for my bantams! And the strange thing is , we had perches outside but they all wanted in the coop!

Mine was 8x12 and i had 13 now i only have 9

Well For somone lik me who lives in MI that would be great fro the cold weather but during the summer they would need a Little more space
