So we are now over 24 hrs with a dime-ish sized hole made by my duckling. Hatch day was supposed to be yesterday but he hasn't progressed. He is at the wrong end of the egg. Should I wait 12 more hours before assisting? He is breathing and poking his beak out nibbling on the membrane flap

Is a making any yawning motions? Do you have him out of the incubator? He's going to get shrink wrapped (he probably already is) if you have him out. What is the humidity in the incubator? I usually wait 36 hours from no progress with ducks. They can take 72 hours from pip to zip.

Still in incubator humidity is good. He is poking his beak out of the hole and nibbling breathing well. Havent noticed any yawning motions?

I havent seen the yawning motion I will look n watch. The membrane around the hole is drying what do u suggest

Do you have any coconut oil you can gently rub on the membrane? Use a q-tip, don't get it in or on the bill.
