26 Button Eggs in the Hatcher....Update w/ pics PG 10...

Good idea, if they would all hatch around the same time! Mine stretched it out over a few days, so I had to move them. They aren't supposed to stay in the bator longer than 24 hours, so if there are late or early hatchers, someone's gonna have to be moved!

Another tip, if your 'tabletop' incubator is actually on the table, move it to the floor!! I had two of my brand new jumbos flop out of the bator and fall right behind the dresser!!

i think i still have 20 or 30 that did that , and are still hiding in the bator room,,,,,,,, i'll find em as soon as they start ta smell

Thought of something else. If your hova is one that has the two small windows in the top, you could just take one of the windows out and 'fish out' the babies that way. That's what I did with mine, after the 'fall behind the dresser' incident. The bator temp was down to 87 degrees, and it wasn't kicking on when I turned the knob. I thought it had quit. Of course now it's up to 100+, so I guess it was just being crazy.

I loooove that idea! I think that's what I'll end up trying. I'm so afraid I'll hurt them though! How old are they before they starting "popping" ?

I'm not sure I'd recommend that only because I've tried it before and it seems to take longer to fish around for them (they usually run to the sides and back) than it does to just open and grab. It also makes the styrofoam weaker around the window opening from removing/replacing. The wooden frame seems to work the best for me. I used old wooden slats from a fence and cut each one in half, then just screwed them together.

I just hope I have enough hatch that I have the worry of catching them!

I am sooo darned nervous! I swear, I've checked that bator over 2 doz. times today...and I know they won't be hatching for quite a while yet!

All you need to do is keep your ears open (being a mom, that shouldn't be difficult!). They always make the most adorable 'cooing' sound right after they hatch! 'oooo! oooo! oooo!' It is so sweet! My jumbos didn't make a peep. I didn't even think they were going to hatch, I just went to check the temp before I went to bed, and there were 3 babies in there! Talk about a surprise!
