I've got a pair of silkies-- one buff and one black-- that are 26 weeks old. They haven't laid yet, but I'm noticing some changes. The black one's face is starting to look a little purple, and her comb is becoming more 3 dimensional-- it's like a small peanut-sized black button. The buff's comb is still flat, but starting to get some color to it. It seems easier to tell when other breeds are close to laying because their facial coloring and combs are easier to observe. Silkies are tricky little things.
