When I was cleaning the brooder today I noticed of of My chicks leg is bending strangely. It's bending back and to the side.

I've changed two things. I've put up some roosts and changed to bedding to some puppy pads because the chicks where eating the paper towels. The joint looks swollen but she's still walking and eating and drinking well.

I had just set her down and she had not adjusted her leg yet.

She let me move it around, tucked in to her body and stretched it all the way out with some pain getting pressed up into her body.
What is this? Something with her tendens? How can I help her?

That's perosis, or slipped tendon I believe. Usually caused by a vitamin deficiency. It may be too late to correct it though.

All of my chicks have been on purina start and grow medicated. https://www.purinamills.com/chicken-feed/products/detail/purina-start-grow-amp-0125
I read that they need more Choline, B vitamins and Manganese when this happens. Is that right? What do I need to give to the chicks for this not to happen to anyone else?

Should I try to get the tendon back in place? It doesn't work most of the time right? How should I do it? Should I try to splint it? Could I use something out of this to splint the leg?

In this video you can see the tendon popping in and out of place, may help to see it:
All you can do is try, may or may not work. Your chick looks like the leg has twisted, so if that's the case it's harder to fix. It's also painful, so you will need to decide when or if it's been enough and if it's just suffering. Good luck.

After playing with her leg I'm almost 100% sure that it's a slipped tendon. The leg is pretty swollen and it's not popping back in. What can I do for the swelling?
