My 27 week old Plymouth Barred Rock started sitting more than usual a couple days ago. We didn't think much of it but took note. On day three (yesterday) she stopped walking on her right foot. I checked it over well, gave her a warm bath, and separated her from our other two hens. I thought she may have bumblefoot because I see a small brown spot on two of her toes. We've been cleaning them and spraying with Vetericyn plus for the last 24hrs or so. I gave her a small dose of aspirin this evening to hopefully help if she's in pain. However, at cooping time tonight she had stopped using her left foot as well. A few details, I saw her eat and drink yesterday and this morning and she's been pooping fine. She had layed an egg this evening. I'm not sure if she was vaccinated, we got her at under a week old at a poultry swap. Can I please have suggestions on what the problem could be and some possible ways to help my sweet girl.

I really hope it is not Mareks disease, but that can be something that effects chickens that age at this time of the year. Injuries are also common. I would use some poultry vitamins in her water that contain riboflavin (vitamin B2) and make sure that she can reach her food and water. A dog crate and some rolled towels or a chicken sling can be helpful with positioning her.

I read about Marek's disease tonight. I sure hope that isn't the case. If it is, I see that it is fatal but how quickly and what can I expect until then? We do have her set up in a dog crate in the garage to keep her a bit more protected. I moved her food and water next to her and she ate heartily. I'll get her some vitamins in the morning. Thank you
