We ended up with meat birds last year by accident. I was not so sure at first when I found out what they were cornish x's, mainly because I knew nothing about them. I did my research and was super excited come processing time. Processing time came and went, and do I dare say that I had fun doing it??!! I surely wanted to do more this year. I bought 27 of them yesterday, and all have been sold when fully grown. I would like to do between 200-300, in batches....but first I need to wait for the snow to melt, and build some extra living spaces!

Most people complain, but sometimes it is fun to raise the cornishX - i started with 15, then 25, then 65 , this year 40. the 65 last year were just too many for the space that I had. i have a few disappointed neighbors this year because i decided to raise them for family only - too much work unless you want to go into business. i have found that i could sell every chickent that I raise, but just don't want to take it up full time. there definitely is a market for home raised and they don't necessarily have to be completely organic - people just seem to want them raised as naturally as possible, fed good feed, and have clean living conditions for them.

Good luck with this years batch!!
